The American Psychological Association defines resilience as follows:
Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.
We can’t control what happens to us but we can control how we react to it. This blog is about learning to respond in ways that allow us to bounce back more effectively. That doesn’t mean we should be happy all the time or bounce back without going through the grief process. It means that we can often avoid going into a negative spiral.
I’ve studied positive psychology for over 20 years and I am excited to finally have a blog about the topic. My vision is to grow a community of like-minded people.
I’m now sure where the journey will lead, but the first step has been taken.
